Part 3: The Biblical Story
with Scot Keen | Running time: 00:39:08 min
In the third video in our four-part series on Narrative Hermeneutics, Bible Teacher and Pastor Scot Keen explains features that are common in the genre of narrative, such as setting, conflict, action and resolution, all of which are present in the Biblical Narrative. Scot compares the movie Lion King to the Biblical Narrative. In both these narratives, we have an ideal beginning, an antagonist causing conflict, and the protagonist eventually gaining the victory to restore the world to its ideal.
We see a repetition of this literary cycle throughout Scripture. God promises to send a Rescuer, but Satan constantly tries to thwart God’s plan. God’s promise finds its fulfilment in Christ, who defeats Satan and will one day restore things to their rightful place.
